I first knew of Tony Roberts though his ground breaking surf/skate videos like “Mental Surfing”, “Progression Sessions”, Speed Wheels Santa Cruz “Risk It!” and many more in the early 90s. His films were the best, maybe because there was a lot of cross over between surfing and skating or because he started focusing on the radical aerial surfing of the Santa Cruz locals and was the one who got photos of guys like Ratboy, Flea, and Barney in the surfing magazines which led to their almost instant success and world wide fame and notoriety. I would see TR on the other side of the lens, skating at Derby or hanging out at the spots that we love the most. If anyone was my “hero” growing up in Santa Cruz as a surfer-skater videographer and photographer it was Tony Roberts.

Neb’s Sanctuary DIY – San Francisco, California

“The sun rose silently behind the Sunset district of San Francisco.The fog was so thick you could grind it, the travelers were ill prepared for the inevitable onslaught. The ocean rose swallowing everything in her path. Israel Forbes was the first to spot the wall of water through the soupy fog. They struggled up the dunes narrowly escaping their ill timed fate. Zarosh Eggleston forged a quick and true path to the safety of “Neb’s Sanctuary”. There in the concrete safety of dunes they waited out the ebbing destruction. Getxo Skate Club – Basque Country

“We have a DIY project in Getxo we have been trying to set up with the city for already three years now. The city council finally gave us three hours a week in a community sports center, typical for Basque Country. We are a club – Getxo Skate Kluba. Some people of La Kantera decided to build some wood ramps and we will more ramps. On the outside we have brick transitions to skate. We have a dream – a public Skatepark in Getxo – we are fishing for that!” – Borja Casas

Lógr knocked on the Hell´s Gate – Czech Republic

The dead stood up from their graves and walked to the farm house. The sky turned red and hell´s gate opened. Gate keeper invited us to Hella. Lógr crew Filip Slivka, Ondra Filípek, Ondra Löbl, Petr Černý, Ryba, Miloš Hroch and Roman Špaček walked into hell, knowing what to expect. One thing is for sure, Lógr will go to hell when the judgement day comes.

Session at Beertards ramp – Kranj, Slovenia

Maybe this ramp doesn’t look special to you, but it’s very special to a couple of guys who live in Slovenia where you can count these kind of places with the fingers of one hand. And if you cut one finger off you’ll get the number of skaters who don’t wear hair gel and who don`t skate on supermarket parking places. People will hate me even more for what I just wrote.
