Rogersville DIY – Corpus Christi, Texas

Getting old sucks. One has to get a “job”, “be responsible”, hang overs get worse, healing after slams take longer and other lame “adult” like things.

What doesn’t suck about getting old: Friendships grow stronger, one can start drinking any time of the day, and despite how one states they are “grown up”, shoelace belts worn by all in attendance assure that we are all still kids at heart.

Heading to hometown, Corpus Christi after a year on the road is like getting a shot in the arm of awesomeness. Parks are fun and more popping up and better punk and metal shows coming to local venues. Backyard ramps and DIY spots are also around and getting more prevalent. Regardless of that, friends are grown up and buying houses of their own. Creating their own scene and answering to no one. (Except the Mrs.! )

The tribe gathers together in-between cold fronts that have blanketed Texas all winter. The sun pops out and cold cans are iced down. Welcome to Rogersville the DIY home spot of Brian Rogers his Mrs. and a newborn along with a few dogs. This whole little set up has cost about $500 give or take estimates Rogers. “More decks are gonna be added and we’re pretty much gonna cover the whole yard” says Brian over a tall can of Busch Beer.

John Callahan, G-Ratt, Dufus and the ladies came down from Houston to share some stoke and beers in the yard. Alex Watson is fast and flowy as usual and everyone enjoys a good slam to make sure we are all mortal. Speaking of mortal, a week after shooting this Callahan tail dropped into a quarter and blew out his MCL. John Manley rips along with the rest of the crew, and even if one doesn’t skate, the fun and chill vibe and radio playing is nice change to get outta the house from the long winter.

The fire pit is started up and beers continue to flow at Rogersville. If you’re in the area, I’m sure they won’t mind ya come skate when the session is on. Bring some Lone Star Beer and crete to help out a rad spot thats gonna get more rad.
