First public skatepark in Laos

In Mid-January I set sail to join my belgian friend Kjell van Hansewyck of MakeLifeSkateLife.org for their latest project in Vientiane, capital of Laos, where we were about to build the nation’s first public concrete skatepark

Annapurna Skatepark – Nepal

We built a 650 square meter park in 18 days, and even though it was completely d.i.y., so to say, and took place in one of the poorest countries of the world, we manged to finish with a high quality product even three days before the official opening. Wo/manpower is all you need to make things happen…

Professional D.I.Y. in Glücksburg, north Germany

Starting to write this article, I wondered about the term ‘professional d.i.y.’ which has been quietly existing for a while now. I mean, since the serious skatepark building business nowadays seems to be in the hand of skateboarders pretty much isn’t every project kind of professional d.i.y.? Well, we as skateboarders do it ourselves (just like the whole industry used to be), if we get paid for it or not, it’s bloody d.i.y., isn’t it!? We take matters into our own hands, this is something we should be really, really proud of and continue to do so.

New concrete bowl in Gmunden – Austria

since the big wooden spine miniramp had to be torn down due to constant wear and tear over the years, the park definitely needed a lift up. So Michael was once more able to convince conservative politicians to spend money, this time on a concrete bowl and he raised some more dough from sponsors out of the skate scene as well to fill the last financial void …

n Saturday Bela Ehmann tore that place a new one with stalefish disasters like nothing.

Home Sweet Bowl – Summer Party – northern Germany

. We built it in May in Eyk`s garden and now it was about time for a decent public opening party which took place on August 30th. Days of preparations guaranteed that we were about to have a good time whether it would be raining or not. Four of Schleswig-Holstein`s finest bands were about to play and the bowl was to be shredded. It was party time!
