I was writing for months with Arne (Boardstein) and he told me that they were working on rebuilding the old “under the bridge” park in Heidelberg, Germany. I was thinking to go there to make a few photos, because it’s so close to Heilbronn where I live, and Heidelberg is a sweet green quiet town.

Confusion sat down at the Hill Street Cafe in Oceanside, California with artist Brandon Lomax to talk art, skateboarding, music, inspiration, and life. Brandon, although based in Oceanside, is a modern day gypsy whose stories of local and global adventures always provoke our own desire to get moving, create, and collaborate.
From April 21st to 25th our lurking class team went on a little Easter trip heading to Hard at Bodensee (Austria). Starting on Thursday evening we arrived late at night in Stuttgart (Germany) to meet up with the guys from Koloss to have a little sesh at the museum bowl and to have a shelter for the first night.

The concrete had just finished hardening and it was time to give the “improved” barrier a proper shredding so Tony Chavez organized the first “Barrier Barge” event at the Ballina Skatepark in New South Wales, Oz. A last-minute decision put this event on a sunny Thursday afternoon and Tony brought out plenty of beer and snags, with TruckStop Sk8 shop, Confusion Magazine, and the Free Beule campaign throwing in some merchandise for prizes.
Dietsches, founder of OMSA (Old Men Skate Association), in Düsseldorf, Germany, headed over to Southern California in the dead of German winter to skate some pools and hang out in the California sun with his friend Keith Stephenson (owner of Addikt Skateboards) as well as Lance Mountain, pool skate writer Ozzie, Kenny King, Tony Alva, Jay Adams and more… sometimes dreams can become reality.

After sleeping in the rental car on the beach after the Pirate Ship Beers & Brats party, I awoke freezing bloody cold in the parking lot of world renowned surf spot HOSSEGOR. There happened to be a world championship surf contest underway just up the beach from where we were parked. After a coffee and Pain au Chocolate, we rolled up through the dunes and checked out some of the best competitive surfers in the world surfing one of the best beach breaks. The waves weren’t ALL TIME, it really gets good at Hossegor, but good enough for a short video clip and a few photos… then we packed up and headed away from the scene, to rural Basque Country.

he idea behind the Brats & Beers skate Sesh was to celebrate the launch of my Old Man Army deck with Mike, OMA co-founder, paying for the brats. We made this trailer last year to premier at the opening of Wasted Box Skateshop in Cologne, Germany. The concept is to combine both skateboarding and surfing in one video, thus the FUSION, or blending of the two activities, into one video. We are no longer going to combine the skateboarding and surfing in one section, but instead have two separate sections for the viewing pleasure of those who are not interested in surfing, which will allow us to have a complete surf section after the full length skate section.
