Ultra Bowl changed this year. Not the players, they are still all the best transition rippers of the moment, but the location moved from Stapelbäddsparken to Sibbarp. I arrived on Thursday afternoon, just at the end of the jump ramp session, at Malmö central station.

Sergej Vutuc was in P-Town to set up a photo exhibition and check out Unheard Distribution’s invitational contest. He took some more “behind the scenes” photos, and he had this to say: “Rad contest…. almost like session… definitely gives special soul to event and great start for future events. The rest you can see and hear in video… one band on loud speakers (slayer) and rad skating. that’s it.”
He’s been skating upon a solid and strong path of progression over the past two years and his skill speaks for itself. That said, Lifeblood Skateboards is honored and proud to welcome Josh Rodriguez to its team.
First chapter of the HEY HO BAR MASSACRE with Andrea Cavaletti, Yeray Escobar and Tino Arena representing Gypsy Skateboarding and Adventure. This event will be held every Tuesday at the store. After the ULTRABOWL IV in Malmö, Sweden, a few different skate tours were underway across Europe, and the first stop on the way to “mainland” Europe is through Copenhagen. There are at least three sick skate spots in Copenhagen, one of which is the semi new Faelledparken skatepark where they had the Copenhagen Pro the last two years. The main two tours that Confusion ran into were LIFEBLOOD skateboards and the INDEPENDENT Trucks, but in addition there were a couple renegade tours passing through…
Ultrabowl 4. Concrete skateboard madness. 40+ rippers from around the world. Brad McClain continued his Scandinavian pro contest sweep with the win. Malmö local Fernando Bramsmark took 2nd. And Kevin Kowalski, last years winner took home 3rd place and a broken rib.
Normally I hate skate contests. In California most skate contests are held in skate parks. While the terrain in California skate parks may be ok, skate parks seem to only exist to keep skateboarders concentrated in one area so to make it easier city officials to keep an eye on skateboarders. Add to the mix too many people, pad nannies, fences, and the like, I prefer to keep as far away from contests as possible.
