Fiesta Des Ursulines is a renegade community event that takes place at Square Des Ursulines in the middle of the city of Bruxelles each year. Conceived by the Brusk collectif who also organized and built the skatepark, the Fiesta des Ursulines is not only a skateboarding event, but also focuses on culture, food, beer, silkscreening, photo exhibitions and social events such as dressing up in animal costumes or face paintings and going across the street to entertain the old people living in the retirement home.
On May 3rd, 2014 the Bowl des Trixhes was in party mode. People from everywhere came together and spent all day riding a firing session under constant snaking, Zèbre’s erotico-ironic lyrics and Petula Clarck’s guitar grinding the coping.
Under the surface of big and loud machines are popping out little places hiding much potential for skateboarding and DIY. In the little town of Flémalle, in the suburbs of Liège, a few young and highly motivated skaters explored their living environment for places of freedom and imagination.
We were cleaning up the mess of the Malinas Machinas on monday and the brewer (Frans van Craenenbroeck) comes to me and he says: ‘I bought a café with a hangar in the back. Can you come check it out and see if it’s possible to built a skatepark in there?’…
The BFH Video is the full Dechka’s (Kamil Sienkiewicz) project. His first two full skate videos were released under the name Sweet Skating 1 & 2, then, for not making a trilogy, he decided to change the name for the third video. After some visits by the whole crew in hospitals and big delays in filming, the name Back From Hospital was found.
This is the third year that we (G’nassis) organized the Malinas Machinas event in Mechelen. The first year we didn’t really knew what we were doing, but we knew that we wanted skateboarding, bands playing and the bowl filled up with water for a pool party. And that all ended up super good, so we decided to do it again the next year in pirate style.
Koekie and the Knock Out Blocks crew put on their annual RAMP JAM in the countryside about 30 minutes from Antwerp, Beligum. The recipe the year is always the same: punk and hardcore bands, a sketchy ramp with as many gnarly features as possible, cheap beers, mayhem and destruction.
