Vert Attack 6 – Malmö, Sweden – 2012

A year late and a euro short… last January, over 1 year ago, was VERT ATTACK 6, an epic vert two day show down on Malmö’s “mid size” vert ramp at Brygerriet skatepark. The year before, Vert Attack 5 showcased vert skateboarding legends Steve Caballero and Christian Hosoi, and this years old school legend was none other than Duane Peters! Other than the the Master of Disaster showing up to perform practically every trick he invented, on hand were young gun american rippers Brad McClain ane Ben Hatchell who skated the ramp padless with every lip trick in the book as if it were a miniramp.

Vert Attack 5 – Malmö, Sweden – 2011

VERT ATTACK 5 was one hell of a contest at the huge vert skater gathering in Malmö, Sweden.
VERT IS BACK! After the fifth edition of the “European Midvert Championships” it’s getting ridiculous to deny this. That was already the case after last winter’s Vert Attack 4, when 67 european vert skaters had celebrated an incredible day of vert at its best.

Malmö DIY – Sibbarp Skatepark. 2011

Malmö DIY was the 3rd annual event at the Sibbarp skatepark in Malmö, Sweden. It’s not about the Sibbarp skatepark being D.I.Y., it was build by CONCREATURES, a skatepark construction company ran in Sweden by Dave Toms and Jezza from Australia. The D.I.Y. event focuses on things like grip tape workshops (hosted this year by Zarosh) and other small skater led organizations that are doing their own thing, big or small, without corporate funding. BBQ, bands, Servant shoes for sale on the hood of the Servant van.. you know… no corporate bullshit. Just a small skate event, everyone having a good time, with some full on skateboarding action.

Malmö, Sweden – DIY WEEKEND (Part II): Bryggeriet + Sibbarp

…I awoke on the hardwood floor, my neck severely tweaked from my short but heavy slumber on the floor. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee thickened the air, enough to motivate me to my feet. Outside the sky hung neutral grey, a dense wet mist, leaving the ground wet. Outdoor skateboarding was canceled for the day so it was off to the indoor wooden skate facility of Bryggeriet for the day’s activities.

Malmö, Sweden – DIY WEEKEND (Part I): THE HOLE

We had been invited up to Sweden for the DIY Sibbarp Skate weekend over a month before but as the weekend drew near, the first Issue of Confusion was still not off to the printers and I almost canceled the trip. But my old saying is “It’s better to go and regret going, than not going and regret not going.” And I never regret it. So we closed down the Confusion offices on Friday morning, caught the train to the Köln airport and 2 hours later we arrived in Copenhagen airport.
