Der Curry Wurst Spot

The Curry Sausage Spot: the (un)burocratic miracle of Aachen

It was raining cats and dogs when Baum and a friend have been securing trowels and wheelbarrows. Since a few weeks they, Leon, Merlin, Tobias Robin the mixer, Serkan, the small neigborhood kid Oskar and various other skaters from Aachen have been working concrete on a small fallow land next to the Maria-Montessori school. “Let’s do it… because we can” is their slogan. Many followed that slogan till now and Baum, being an expert in floater trowel and decent lunacy, filled the spot of the skipper, equal among equals.

It was raining and suddenly they appeared. Two elderly woman and a man. “Are you responsible for THIS?” Prejudice involved if one might suspect everything now has to be torn down? The stoic response “Yes… why?” led to an unexpected sentence, not angry birds but spring flowers whistling “oh… we really like it, great! We are part of the youth department of the city and this gentleman belongs to the public park authority. What are your plans?“ Impressed by what was already created, flattered by Baum and secured by existing construction plans and visions there have been no objections, no threats. No… the team got a little hand of gold from the treasure of the youth department, the request to place some construction barriers and a reassuring “keep it going!!”

Right now an association is nearly out of labor, next year some more support will come from the city and only once was there a whisper of “You do know that you could have gotten into deep trouble… right?

In March 2016, when concrete flowers sprout, there will be a small festival at the spot.
Respect Aachen. Thank you Baustoffe Boendgen and to the Beiberger e.V.

Respekt Aachen. Danke an Baustoffe Boendgen und den Bleiberger e.V.
