Wicked Lady – Olivia Jaffe Interview

With an unbelievably old, ripped up, Motörhead shirt on, the sickest pair of leather boots you’ve ever seen, a cig in one hand and an archaic piece of technology in the other, comes Olivia Jaffe. Like a spider carefully waiting for the moment to strike, often not disrupting the scene, just hanging in there tight till the time comes, she shoots to kill… dig into her photos and dive head-first into a rock and roll universe you only ever dreamed of before.

Switchblades and Urethane music festival – Long Beach, California

Skaters are just naturally creative. Every time we step on a board we are creating something by pushing and doing a trick. We see the world differently than the rest of the world. We see objects in the street and think, “damn, I need to skate that”! So it’s just makes sense that many skaters have picked up an instrument and formed bands. We need to express our artistic and creative nature through these avenues. “Switch Blades and Urethane” fest is just an extension of that unison between skaters and music.

ILEGAL – live in Liege, Belgium – 9/11/12

Last year on 9/11 I took the train to Liege, Belgium, the closest place ILEGAL were playing on their seven week tour across Europe. Forming in Montreal, Canada, all the members of this raw punk / hardcore band were “illegal immigrants” except for the bassist. Locio, the singer, is from Mexico. Johnne, the drummer is from Finland. Simon, the guitarist is from England/USA, leaving the bassist, Jason, as the only legal Canadian resident. I’ve tried twice to do an interview with Ilegal, the first time the tape player was broken and the second time we went out drinking after the show and the interview never happened…

US BOMBS Berlin. December 5th, 2010

Last weekend I was up in Berlin and I went to check out the US Bombs at this punk rock hall in Kreuzberg called FESTSAAL. Everyone else flaked out on going with me (too tired, too hung over) so I went alone and damn glad I went. Front row, sick show and a few cheap 80 cent half liter beers with some Berlin Punks out front in the cold. Duane Peters was in fine form, rockin’ out, dancing, and pounding Red Bulls. They even played one of my favs for the encore, “Ballad of Sid”. I took the set list for a souvenir and these photos for your enjoyment, since you obviously missed the show.
