Bronson Ditch “Urban Skate Project” – Hollywood, California

Nestled in the Griffith Park area (Hollywood Hills), where hiking trails welcome hundreds of people a day, Bronson Canyon ditch has been the destination for any skater who visits southern California and more specifically, Hollywood. But like the Hollywood movies that have emerged over the years, someone decided to do something new and exciting with a location that has been untouched for decades. Clayton Graul and his crew have recently taken the DIY approach to Bronson Ditch and have added some creativity to its legendary status.

MY DIY overview.

MY D.I.Y. – Atwater, California

“I’ve been doing concrete work for about fifteen years. It was just a job and had never occurred to me to use my knowledge of concrete for skateboarding until I met the Vagabond crew.” – Gene Boles

Zarosh. Ollie to grind.

Neb’s Sanctuary DIY – San Francisco, California

“The sun rose silently behind the Sunset district of San Francisco. The fog was so thick you could grind it, the travelers were ill prepared for the inevitable onslaught. The ocean rose swallowing everything in her path. Israel Forbes was the first to spot the wall of water through the soupy fog. They struggled up the dunes narrowly escaping their ill timed fate. Zarosh Eggleston forged a quick and true path to the safety of “Neb’s Sanctuary”. There in the concrete safety of dunes they waited out the ebbing destruction. And the sun set once more.” – Mike Crabtree

MY DIY: 4/20 CRETE-RAISER

Here it is folks the next ‘crete-raiser is set to go down Saturday, April 20th, 2013! Come shred Rocky’s bowl and help raise some extra dough to finish the BUILD.

“Built in manual steering shit” by Matt Grabowski

I have to disappoint you. Every year I lose interest in skateboarding. It’s all show everywhere. Show. Tradeshow. Car shows. Even car shows suck. It’s all costume design hot rotted “I like the old style but I also like the new 2014 power steering shit.”

The Hype Train

The Hype Train is a crew of skateboarders based out of San Diego, California, on a mission to build and destroy ‘crete wherever it lays. Here’s a trailer for the film, premiering January 2013.

Kobrah Video

Our buddy Tadashi Yamaoda, over at KOBRAH Magazine just put out this video of a bunch of SF/Oakland bay area shredders.

Slough Side DIY – Somewhere, Northern California

“Just wanted to submit some images and reach out for support. We got a pretty good spot going in XxXxXxX, CA. Trying to keep it as underground as possible while building as much as we can while we can. Any info on the ones who would be down to contribute would be greatly appreciated, it all helps.

Pipeline Reunion – Badlands Bash in Upland, California

Words could not describe the amazing skating that went down at Upland Skatepark celebrated by the Hoffman Family and the 35th anniversary of the Pipeline with their “Badlands Bash”. Dave Duncan was on the mic, but Salba was running the show.

Skaters included legends: Salba, Malba, Tony Hawk, Lance Mountain, Mike McGill, Steve Caballero, Eddie Elguera, Christian Hosoi, Sergie Ventura, and Jay Adams. Lots of up and coming sons of Badlanders including Frankie Fernandez, Kevin Burke and Tristan Rennie held it down and insured the Badlands are in good hands for generations to come.

Flowershop DIY – San Francisco

Sorry for the lack of updates lately, the entire Confusion staff was over on the west coast of North America. While searching for a photo, I stumbled upon this Flower Shop session back in 2008.

West Covina Pool – southern California

Mike had this one going for a while and was one hell of a host. You can only imagine the look on the landlords face when she came by to show a potential renter a room and saw the pool drained! Lots of Action went down at this gem in West Covina. Rhino from Thrasher came by with crew including Grant Taylor and the scored a cover for the 30th anniversary issue. The night before Mike got the boot this session went down. Johnny Abernathy, Ben Butler, Erik Peters, and Robbie from pedro.
