We had the will and that’s what pushed us forward. There were many times, because of interferences by the city council, that we almost stopped and gave up, but pride, strength, and our internal struggles made it possible that after 12 years, that piece of concrete hope still remians, something we built then because we needed a decent place to skate, and as a symbol of protest against a city that discriminated and labeled us delinquents, and still does to this day.
We’re almost finished with a new skatepark by the beach in Barcelona, Spain designed with other two more projects in 2009 by a couple architect experts on landscaping and myself as a skateboarder.
The Urban Day Ripollet Bowl Party went down on July 6th, 2013 at Ripollet skatepark on the outskirts of Barcelona, Spain. Sponsored by Hey Ho Bar, September Wheels, Gypsy skateboards, Hoax, Converse, Osiris, Ace Trucks, Muckefuck, Warriors skateboards, Servant Footwear, and Maccaroni Distribution. A fun day in the sun with lots of free skate products, clothes and shoes for all the winners, and everyone was a winner this day!
On my way to Barcelona to infiltrate as a double agent: working for a big multinational as an artist and at the same time working as photojournalist for this almighty underground skateboard magazine. Self-portrait taken inside the train bathroom. Fuck airports and their tight-ass regulations. In the train I can bring a pair of big scissors, a knife, a skateboard and lots and lots of liquids.
Confusion Magazine online is starting a new photographer spotlight series called Behind the Lens which spotlights the characters that document skateboarding to fill the pages of skateboarding magazines and websites around the world. Without skate photographers, we would only have our faded memories of a session, from our own personal perspective, and would never see different diy spots, skateparks, ramps, ditches, backyard pools and street scenes around the world. The skateboarder is the hero, but it is the person behind the lens that brings this duo together to successfully capture an instant in time and place. Whether exposing with light onto film or onto megapixel memory sticks, each photographer has their own style, equipment and group of skaters they shoot with. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so check out the photography of Ricardo Muñoz Carter, and if you have time you can find out which photographers inspire him, what equipment he uses, and how he started to shoot skate photos in the first place.
First chapter of the HEY HO BAR MASSACRE with Andrea Cavaletti, Yeray Escobar and Tino Arena representing Gypsy Skateboarding and Adventure. This event will be held every Tuesday at the store. A new team and guest riders will be announced next week. Few can handle this hell curving bar and even fewer will be able to overcome the trials of Hey Ho Bar Massacre!
Santa Coloma de Farnés is a litte town in the middle of the forest in Girona, its a crazzy spot whith all volcanos but whitout activiti rigth now…
there is a bunch of old farmer houses abandoned in the area.
Some hippies from the town decided to start to live in one of the farm houses and started to make activities in the house for the kids, like football, basketball, bicicross, escalation,etc.. i dont know exacly why but they decided to build something for skate there.
Twenty years of Guineueta skatepark and next year is the 10th anniversary of the corner me and my friend Dany built… Barcelona didn’t have any skateparks, everything was shit and we needed to build something to skate a real one… that was the idea of building that D.I.Y.
On July 7th, a few miles from Barcelona, we had the luck to enjoy the first RIPOLLET BOWL PARTY organized by the Ripollet City Council, Gypsy Skateboarding and Adventures, Hey Ho Skateshop, Maccaroni Distribution, Bastard Clothing and Confusion DIY Magazine, to celebrate the official opening of the park.
This is a new mini bowl that I finished last week. It is located 30 minutes south of Barcelona in a town called Begues.
