The Rog nation managed to resist by organizing a never-ending festival and opening the place to a wider public. Musicians, artists and performers came from everywhere to give support. Just to show how important a place like this truly is. In the end, Rog was built by people, active citizens, who devote a great part of their lives to providing autonomous and low-cost solutions to many of the city’s flaws.

Tada’s show “Dick Skinners” was something I was looking forward to for a few weeks. At least ever since I knew it was going to be in Basel. So we jumped in Juli’s VW and off we went.
NorthBrigade is one of the oldest skateparks in Germany, established sometime in the 1980s. About three years ago the locals built the first concrete bowl in Cologne at the far end of the skatepark, called the Owl Bowl. Plans were later made for a full rebuild of the outdated skatepark, finances were put in place and before you knew it, the destruction of the old park was underway…
Deep in the countryside but not far away from the city of Cologne, lies the recently completed Odenthal Eikamp skatepark, built near a church.
“There was just one session on the indoor mini ramp at Pumpa because outside it was raining so we couldn’t skate the bowl. There were different artists selling art, photos, zines, cds, lps and other things. We sold them to collect money for buying new concrete. That’s it!” – Deso / R.O.W.
Maybe this ramp doesn’t look special to you, but it’s very special to a couple of guys who live in Slovenia where you can count these kind of places with the fingers of one hand. And if you cut one finger off you’ll get the number of skaters who don’t wear hair gel and who don`t skate on supermarket parking places. People will hate me even more for what I just wrote. Fuck them.
