“It all started in 2018 with a group of handy friends, with the constant idea in the back of their heads of building a pirate DIY. After looking for many different spots, we started squatting this old barn, which at first was pretty much a total wasteland. But, there was a perfect concrete slab and a roof on top of it! We loved it straight away! It took us a few months of cleaning and night missions to “find” some materials on the construction sites around… Finally, once it was built, we started to organize some events, and it was on! “Skatebordel” ! (Local slang, meaning something like skate-mess- anarchy).
Plenty of beers, and more and more people show up every year. It’s wild, and we love it! Afterwards, we decided to build another part with the money we made from all those parties: A 600 m2 “street-plaza”! A few years passed by, and we are almost done, we just need another few kegs of beer… stay tuned!” – Jano

Jey interview with Jean
If I had to describe the Fiskal Paradiyz from my humble outside perspective, I’d say it’s a strange mix of Mad Max, Woodstock, and Skatopia — but with a Breton twist. By that I mean: loaded with salted butter and liters of cider! What do you think?
— That’s a good summary, we could’ve even added Top Gun to complete the picture haha.
Well, we’re not here to promote alcohol, but let’s be honest: this idea of building a brick loop in the middle of a street plaza… it probably wouldn’t have been born over a salad and a jug of water, right?! (Laughs)
— Exactly! The menu was more tajine and whisky-cola… For the little backstory of the loop: we had already built some brick modules before, and one evening during a “clandestine” meeting for a WAW project a year ago, two slightly intoxicated brains (yes yes, I’m talking about the two of us, Jey…) fused together and the conversation went something like:
Jey: “Let’s build a loop.”
Jano: “A loop… in bricks?”
Jey: “Oh hell yeah!”
By the way, what’s new since my visit during your last builder’s jam? What’s next for Fiskal?
— Well, we kept working on the pocket attached to the loop, but the Breton weather has stopped everything for the winter. We’ll pick it all back up in spring, and we really hope that 2026 will finally be the year the plaza opens! Stay tuned.
Rumor has it you’re planning to bring in a skatable piece of an airplane for the spot? Truth or myth? (Fiskal ParaDIYz is only a few hundred meters from the Lorient airport.)
— Myth! We’re actually planning to install an anti-air missile launcher as a pole jam to shut up the neighbors…
Alright, I won’t bother you any longer — I know interviews aren’t really your thing. But once again, congrats on this incredible spot. And I seriously hope I’ll have the chance (and the balls!) to try the loop with you next year!!!
Anything you’d like to add?
— Huge thanks to everyone who showed up and helped build this madness! Yermat !
Interview with OLMOGZ – DIY Coping & Breton Madness by Jey
Hey Nico! How’s it going? Alright, straight to the point: why did you end up making copings for free for DIY projects instead of working on pro skatepark construction and getting paid for it?!
Hey Jay, it’s going great here in Brittany — lots of beautiful projects going on.
The skatepark coping projects could interest me, but honestly they’re not my priority. What matters most is helping DIY spots run by people who are making amazing projects.
It’s not even been a year since I started making pool copings from A to Z. Building the mold with my own radius was a real mission, but I’m finally getting the results I really like. Still plenty of work to make them super clean, though. Places like Apremont — a massive DIY — they did such an insane job.
Seeing my copings in spots like that… it’s priceless. Thanks to Noa for offering me that project. And there’s also Trucdul DIY in Bréhan, Brittany, at Mike’s. A DIY still in progress, and honestly he’s the reason I started making them. He wanted them homemade — so that’s where it all began. Now I want to keep helping DIY scenes everywhere and give them strength.
⸻
I truly think the Fiskal DIY still doesn’t have the recognition it deserves. The place is absolutely incredible. Do you think once the cobblestone loop of the street-plaza is skateable, things will change? Or do the people running this “Breton Mad Max” just want to stay hidden from the spotlight?
Fiskal Paradiyz is an unbelievable spot led by ultra-motivated people. And yeah, with the street-plaza and the cobblestone loop, for sure it’s going to bring even more people — skaters, spectators, and anyone who wants to check out the DIY and drink cider. So yes, I think Fiskal will finally get the recognition it deserves.
Events organized there, open to everyone, will attract skaters from everywhere. I’m even planning to live there for a bit to help finish the DIY and learn more about that place I still don’t know so well.
⸻
Rumor says you needed as many liters of beer and cider as liters of water to build that lost paradise. Truth or myth?
The legend is true. I haven’t known Fiskal for that long, but after spending just a month there on the build… yeah, the cider was always out, and the beer too. Plus a good amount of gnôle from back home, gotta keep the Breton apple spirit alive. But Jean and Basile could give you even more details about that legend.
⸻
Okay, time for the “promo” part of the interview. If someone wants copings from you for their spot, how can they order?
Just contact me on Instagram: @Olmogz_.
It’ll take a bit of time — I only have one mold for now — but I’ll do it with pleasure.
⸻
That’s already it, dude. Anything you want to add? Can’t wait to show you our spot in Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne. And why not build a little spot with your copings?!
I’d be really happy to offer you copings for your legendary DIY, and to taste Jay’s génépy again — which is damn good! And to do some boneless everywhere in that DIY. Thanks skateboarding, thanks Confusion, and I’m stoked I discovered this DIY universe I didn’t know that well.
Yermat!
