Halloween at La Bifurk Indoor skatepark – Grenoble, France

« Hey Jey, we are screwed, we need a speaker for our Halloween Jam at La Bifurk! Are you down?! »

I don’t really know how to put that into words, without being « cancelled » but…

I wasn’t too keen to be honest. But when my friend Léo asks me something I can’t say no. He is the best. He is doing so much for skateboarding in Grenoble, and everywhere in the world with Wonders Around the World, I just can’t say no.

After a few days seriously thinking about it, I accepted the challenge. Yeah, I said « challenge », because in 2025, being a speaker at a skate event is a really tough mission. You can’t just talk shit like we used too. Everybody is so weak, sensible and easily offended nowadays it’s insane.

So, for the first time before speaking, I was seriously stressed out. Really. I didn’t even wear my favorite Slayer t-shirt just in case some guys might tell I’m a nazi or whatever crap they like to talk about.

So I kept it mellow, with a lot (too many ?) inside jokes, because I knew pretty much everybody there. It felt like I was actually pretty boring compared to what Colucci did as a speaker in Chamrousse for the 10 years anniversary not that long ago, but still had fun in the end. Everybody was ripping, having fun, in a good mood. Like skateboarding always should be.

What a great scene those guys have created there. With Léo as a mastermind behind all that, Grenoble is finally shining in the French skate scene. And it’s well deserved. Even the Vipers came from Switzerland, the Porkland crew from Clermont Ferrand, and a few guys from Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne too.

I would love to tell you more about the event, the concerts etc, but… after the pressure of being the speaker cooled down, talking for hours with everybody about changing the skatepark building industrie while drinking Jameson, I’ve kinda lost it. Sorry kids…
