My first “punk” show was the Clash at the Santa Monica Civic in 1979 with my friend who I have known since kindergarten. I saw 999 at the Roxy but I don’t know if I was still in junior high school or freshman year…

The funny thing about DIY, is that we spend so much time trying to explain them, community, repurposed space, a reaction to poor government, and they’re not wrong, but they’re missing something. In an era of Street League sponsorships and skateboarding selling cars, DIY spots are a symbol. They are proof that some people still care about the thing itself.
It all started with the classic desire to skate during work breaks and being tired of always following classic skate park projects,
The little things. It’s what the world is made of. Small joys. Like hearing the sounds of boards slapping against the graffiti-laced metal ramps of Marsh Park
Two weeks on the road in USA in a RV, in search of empty pools, ditches and those perfect red slappy curbs…

Seagulls are intelligent, adaptable birds found on every continent, known for their ability to drink both fresh and saltwater, as well as their social and opportunistic behavior. Seegull is very much the same, but replace his ability to drink saltwater with his ability to drink copious amounts of booze while bombing around on board. He got his nickname squawking on sessions all over the country, and I don’t believe plans on slowing down. He’s 100% skateboarder. Half effort does not produce half results. It produces no result. Continuous work and hard work is the only way to accomplish results that last. And Seegull lives 100% by that mindset. – Elijah Akerley
A lot of British skaters that skate transition and bowls often dream of skating an actual pool. We watch pool skating clips and look longingly at the pictures in magazines but 99% of pools in the UK are the rectangle kind with straight sides, nothing like the curved bottomed pools in California with blue tiles and intricate metal covered lights and chunky coping.
Dreams are achieved with patience and perseverance. It is the best description for the Tlacuacha Ramp. Two years to carry out the construction of this 100% DIY spot!
