It’s been 10 years of La Casita, this magical DIY in the South of Spain, and we got word this year that the place is going to be demolished soon. It’s not very tough of me to say that I cried my eyes out when I got the news, but overall there’s a stoic feeling in the air, as the lads keep throwing the ole saying around in nonchalance: everything comes to an end.
There’s always a Halloween party at La Casita, but this one was going to be the last, so a bunch of DIY freaks gathered there to celebrate and bid farewell. From Andalusia to the Basque Country, Catalonia and Murcia, the place was full of DIY legends from Spain. The destruction party was on! It was hectic. It was a blast. It was epic.

The destruction party was on!
It was hectic. It was a blast. It was epic.
Even the police came to check out the party; and kicked everyone out. It was intense! They threatened to put us all in jail if we didn’t evacuate the place. After 45 minutes of trying to put some sense into them, they went back on their word and told us to get back to it. There were tears, there were cheers; it was a rollercoaster of emotions. The party went on, fireworks, illegal shenanigans and all, and it was wholesome as fuck to be all there together.

Everyone absolutely destroyed the whole DIY. The pool sessions were rad. The gigs were sick. We had Emuna with their death metal, Tricoderma and My State with their punk rock, all the freaks dancing the night away. At the end of the night, skater duo from Seville Acid Drop played their instrumental doom and roll that had us all delighted as if we’d just tasted the cherry on top of the cake.
But the most awaited event of the night was The Skateboard Inquisitors’ performace, which was more like a satanic ritual; a ceremony to the slash grind and the Don’t-Fucking-Do-It attitude. An homage to hostile terrain and radical coping, they played their number one hit “Fuck Normal Coping, Fuck Normal People” and, together with the crowd, they literally destroyed the most humble metal coping in La Casita, which everyone agreed to being gross anyway.
The next day, that ramp was completely destroyed. Everyone was hungover, except for the ones who didn’t even sleep. Some people woke up with new tattoos they didn’t even remember getting. Billy Slasher paid a visit to the hospital overnight, got emergency surgery and was back by morning to finish his bottle of Jack Daniels. Many of the lads went back home with injuries, even the ones who didn’t skate. It was perfect.
