The DIY scene in Switzerland is so active that it’s pretty much impossible to go to every skate event those guys are organizing, especially in August. Yep, sorry Vipers, I missed the Beast Fest in Zürich once again !
But I made it to the Bernside Fest this time. My girlfriend and I came a day early, and had a blast enjoying a full Bern experience all week-end long (merci Mischler). Rosengarten promenade, followed by a cocktail at Bellevue five stars hotel for breakfast. Yes sir! I mean, it wasn’t more expensive than a drink in a shitty ski-resort bar at our place. And the service and view were amazing, so why not, hey?! Then we walked through the beautiful old town, before jumping in the Aare (the river crossing the city). Kings Kebab for lunch? Hell yeah! Ludmilla restaurant for dinner? Oooh yeah !
Yep, I reached an age where a cheap warm beer and a tasteless triangle sandwich from the supermarket aren’t my thing anymore. I might have luxury tastes after my last Team Trouble experience in Laax…
…but that doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy a skateboard event anymore! Hell no!
The skateboard industry might be struggling nowadays (thank you Doodah for the support anyway!), the “core” skateboard spirit is still well and alive.
And Bernside is a really good example of why skateboarding is still one of the best things ever! Great spot, beautiful location, strong open-minded scene, friendship, rippers & legends, DJs all day (Damian, you’re the man!)… and amazing pizzas!!!
I wished I had more time to talk with everybody, but I was kinda busy talking shit as the speaker on the microphone, mixing every languages at the same time… (those Aperol drinks were great, sorry Tobi, I tried my best!)
